This girl rescued a hedgehog that had fallen into the river, and then

“One small rescue. One big change of heart.”

One quiet evening, after finishing work, a young woman was walking along the riverside.
The air was cool and calm, and the city lights shimmered softly on the surface of the water. Suddenly, she heard a faint squeak coming from below — weak, desperate, almost fading.

Looking down, she saw a tiny hedgehog struggling helplessly in the river. It kept swimming in circles, unable to climb the high, slippery brick wall. Its small body trembled, exhausted and on the verge of sinking.

Panicking, she looked around for something to help. At first, she picked up a single dry branch lying by the path, gently lowering it into the water and whispering soft words of encouragement — but the poor creature couldn’t reach it. She tried again and again, but it didn’t work.
Finally, she gathered several dry branches — though leafless, they were full of small twigs spreading at the tips. She tied them together into a bundle, lowered it once more, and this time — the little one managed to cling tightly. Gently, she pulled it up from the cold water.

She wrapped the trembling creature in a soft cloth to warm it, then tucked it inside her coat. It soon stopped shaking and snuggled close to her heartbeat.
At home, she cleaned it, massaged it with warm oil, and placed it into a cozy towel nest. When she offered it a slice of watermelon, it ate eagerly, as if it hadn’t eaten for days.

The next morning, it was full of life — running across her room, playing with her cat, even climbing onto the piano while she played. She laughed softly, her heart full of affection.
From that day on, the little hedgehog became part of her life — a small, warm reminder that even the gentlest act of kindness can change a life forever.
